Discovery Square is the residential section of the Dulles Discovery project. Featuring high-density townhomes there are several key- note park spaces throughout the community: Discovery, Challenger and Endeavor Parks. Each space features unique characteristics linking the park space to the history of the aerospace industry in Northern Virginia, Dulles Airport, and the industries that support it.

LPDA was tasked by the General Contractor to complete design development, construction plans and specifications, and approval documents from a proffered concept design. This concept included active and passive recreation areas, playgrounds, seating and pedestrian areas. Throughout the design process, LPDA balanced the activity centric approach to the high density housing components with elements that reflect on the regional ties to the aerospace industry. Several of these components included space themed play equipment to a large granite globe reflecting the global reach of Dulles International Airport.

The first phase of the project was delivered in 2015 with the final phase being completed in the Fall of 2018.
