Parks & Recreation Open Space Planning

LPDA has been actively involved in park and trail design and construction since 1971. We strongly believe that parks and trails are critical to the health and welfare of communities. This important “green” infrastructure also serves to connect people to their community, environment, culture and history. A great park system starts with sound planning practices. This often means the preparation of a Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan which is prepared and adopted in accordance with the municipalities overall comprehensive plan. LPDA assists communities in preparing this planning document. We have prepared new plans for communities as a lead consultant, as a sub consultant and have assisted municipalities in updating their plans in house. We have worked with 14 municipalities across Virginia. Our services have included, statistically valid surveys, public input, facilities assessments, program evaluation, level of service planning, capital improvement and implementation planning and maintenance and operations planning for park systems and individual facilities. Our planning documents are used to inform prioritization, funding and capital improvements through sound needs analysis and community support.
