Memory Care Garden at Falcons Landing

LPDA is proud to announce the completion of the design and construction of the universally accessible Interim Memory Care Garden at the Johnson Center building on the Falcons Landing Military Retirement Community campus in Sterling, Virginia.  LPDA designed a sensory garden full of contrasting colors, textures, sounds, and scents for the residents to interact with and help to keep their minds youthful.  The space is fully accessible and provides several seating areas along the meandering path.  The site furnishings and pavement selections were made to allow for easier use by residents and improved ergonomics for aging residents. The acoustics of the basalt rock fountain and the aroma of the herbs and perennial plantings help to create a peaceful and serene garden space.

Amie Evans, senior project manager for the project, said “I am very proud to have delivered such a wonderful sensory garden to our communities’ retired military and their families.  I hope the residents enjoy this new space and create many special moments here.”

Falcons Landing is awaiting the completion of the new assisted living memory care facility, the Hillside House, that LPDA designed the memory care garden for as well.  While this space is functioning as a temporary memory care garden until the new facility is opened, this will remain a magnificent garden for all residents to enjoy.
